Remember that old Cookbook I bought a couple weeks ago at an estate sale? Well, last night I was looking through it and found SO many neat recipes! I also came across a section on nutrition and meal planning as suggested in 1935. They had a weekly sample menu for each SEASON. That means they didn't suggest having a strawberry dessert in December.

For Winter, here is the suggested meals for today (Monday):

-----

Breakfast-
Prunes, Cereal,
Ham & Eggs, Toast,
Coffee or Milk

Lunch-
Potato Soup, Corn Fritters,
Cole Slaw,
Milk or Tea

Dinner-
Chicken-fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes,
Spinach, Celery,
Brown Betty (that's a dessert),
Coffee or Milk

-----

Sounds pretty good no? Well, here are the suggested meals for a Saturday in Mid-Summer that got me wishing it was summer again:

Lastly, here is a recipe I found in the cookbook for Egg Nog that sounded delicious (tis the season!) and I thought I'd pass it along.

Egg-Nog (1 glass):

1 egg
1/8 tsp. salt
1 T. powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk

Variation, Egg-Nog with Fruit Juice: Add 2 T. of any desired fruit juice or combination of juices to the plain egg-nog.
