Ok, so the disclaimer to this post is: our dining room is small. Actually our house is small. But, after a year and a half of living here, we finally made some improvements which have completely changed the feel of the room!
We LOVE it!
And because I'm a lover of good deals and I think you do too, I will detail what everything cost!
Thanksgiving Table Scape! I had the trifle dish, put in circular styrofoam ($3), some green moss ($5), various fall artificial plants (90% off at Hobby Lobby, so it cost less than $1), pumpkins and gourds ($3- painted them with paint I already had), gold & green wire garland (50% off at Hobby Lobby- $6), table runner (Goodwill- $2). Total spent: $20! (I already had the China.)
Ladder Wall Decoration: Ladder (Antique re-sell shop, $25), frames ($1.25 for all of them, I painted with paint I already had and distressed them), metal plaques (50% off at Hobby Lobby, two of them were $4 and two were $5), wooden letter "P" (Hobby Lobby-$2, painted and distressed myself), hardware to hang "P" on ladder and ladder on wall (Hobby Lobby & Lowe's- $6). Total spent: $52.25! (p.s. the b&w pics are temporary, they aren't ours... we are waiting on our prints still!)
Table Re-do: Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Antibes Green ($35- 1 quart), Annie Sloan Dark Wax ($25), Minwax clear Finishing Paste Wax ($8), sandpaper I already had, cloths (to apply the wax) I already had. Total spent: $68! (I still have about 1/4 of the paint left, and I have TONS of the wax left for future projects)
Shoe Cubby: we found it at a garage sale- $12, painted it the same stain we used last year for our tabletop. Total spent: $12!
Grand Total Spent on Dining Room Re-do (I'll go ahead and round up): $153!

You did such a great job! It's totally cute and looks so professional. I am coming over for a tutorial on distressing!
ReplyDeleteNice! Definitely adds a splash of color, I like it :) Have you ever checked out www.ana-white.com?? It's all DIY furniture, but it's all very basic and there's tons of cool ideas, especially from reader-submitted photos, etc.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love the green and love the ladder. I also meant to post from your other posting that I love the blue you used on the bookcase.
