What a difference a year makes!

A year ago, he wasn't even walking and had no interest in eggs. A couple weeks ago he had jolly good time searching for eggs...

Yesterday...

But ya know... it has been a great year, because now I get to cuddle and love this...

Kaila is such a sweet baby. She sleeps pretty good (3-5 hours at night, depending on her mood), she nurses like a pro (even though that is kind of disgusting to think about a professional nurser), and is chubbin out nicely... like she is about 11 pounds now!

Babies are more of a spectacle here (because it is not Utah) and she gets attention wherever she goes. Moreover, we, as a family, create a bit of a stir now in public. Why? Well, Bruno looks to be about 18 years old and I look about the same (or maybe not?) and we have 3 children! People stare.

But I love being a mom to 3... I feel I'm adjusting pretty well (with the help of my beloved Mtn Dew).... and having a daughter has brought a special spirit into our home... not sure exactly how to describe it, but things seem more peaceful. And perhaps this is unique to our family... I don't know if little girls have this effect on every family, but Kaila is exactly what ours needed. Period.

Things I'm looking forward to this week:
1. Bruno working from home Thursday and Friday
2. Owen's Tae Kwon Do sparring class on Friday
3. Maybe the Zoo on Saturday

Things I'm looking forward to in the next month:
1. Alex's 2nd year Birthday BBQ next Saturday
2. My mom finishing Kaila's baby blessing dress (think cream-colored satin with lace overlay, vintage design... I can't wait!)
3. My sister, her kids, and my parents driving out for the blessing

Things I'm looking forward to this summer:
1. Trip to Alaska WITH Bruno (first time in 4 years!)
2. Many lazy Saturdays spent at the pool
3. Running again!

  3. Such cute kids. Alex really has grown so much.

So don't you just love having a girl?!?! I think it's a lot of fun when you have a few of the same gender and then you throw a different one in there - you can really feel the difference. That's how it was with adding a boy to our mix. Seemed to have a different bond - still just as special as my girls - but just different. It's fun. :)

By the way -- Sam has got it in his head that he wants to take a road trip someday to DisneyWorld and make stops along the way. I put your name in as a stop :) So I'll warn you if those plans ever come true. :)
