WARNING: If you don't like art, this post may be boring!
Bruno's Vovó (grandma), came with Josette (Bruno's aunt) to visit us here the last weekend in July. After touring around downtown a little, I suggested we visit the Cathedral Basilica, since I had never been there and I had heard rave reviews about it from my aunt Marybeth. She has toured all of the Basilicas in Europe and told me that this one in St Louis competes with the best of them!
The outside was impressive... but honestly? It was nothing compared to the inside!
We were simple in awe. Everything and I mean everything is a mosaic inside. It is THE LARGEST mosaic collection in the world and was started in 1912, and finally completed in 1988.
The mosaic design on the inside part of the green dome that you will see in a later picture:
This, as well as the other side chapels of the Cathedral were designed and installed by Tiffany and Co.!
Here, Josette with Owen and Alex, at one of the alters.
A replica of Michelangelo's La Pietà. I love love love this sculpture. I remember studying it in Art History... one of my favorites!
The group! Left to Right: Me, Bruno, Alex, Owen, Vovó, Tia Josette, Tio Luciano
Definitely another worthwhile tourist stop in St Louis and guess what? IT'S FREE TOO!

Hi - We do not know each other - I just cruised through your entire blog tonight, fascinated at your beautiful family, your photos, and the things in common we have: We own a Honda Pilot and love it to bits. We switched to iMacs within the past year and totally love them. We are LDS. I served a mission in Sao Paulo. I used to love running - before my knees went bad. So there. Tudo bem. Tchao!
